572. WE-HERAEUS-SEMINAR "EXPLORING SOLVATION SCIENCE"

The 572. WE-Heraeus-Seminar „Exploring Solvation Science“, funded by the “Wilhelm und Else Heraeus Stiftung” took place from 27th to 30th October, 2014 in the Physikzentrum Bad Honnef.

The Physikzentrum provided a lecture and dining room including accommodation under one roof, which proved to be an excellent environment for scientific exchange. 74 participants from 12 different countries attended the seminar and even more applied for participation. In the mornings 18 invited speakers gave an overview on the research on Solvation Science worldwide. Please see below for a list of speakers. On Monday and Wednesday afternoon 16 early career researchers contributed excellent short talks giving insight into their research fields. All talks were followed by intense discussions, stimulated especially by questions of the young researchers and PhD students. The discussions were continued during the two poster sessions until late night. The walking tour and wine tasting on Tuesday afternoon was one more catalyst for the great group atmosphere during the seminar. After all, the conference was an excellent opportunity to initiate research collaborations. Please see below for some impressions (images courtesy of Dr. Nina Winter). We thank all participants for their contributions and hope to see them again in Bochum!
