From 22th - 26th September 2014 the ECRs organized two Science Writing Workshops with the trainer Dr. Ian Patten, writing consultant with more than 10 years experience. The three-days workshop "Making Sense of Writing" for PhD students focused on the own writing process. The two-days workshop "Effective Management of Writing and Publication" for group leaders focused on the management of the writing process within a research group.

The Summer School of the Marie Curie Initial Training Network (ITN) "Soft Matter at Aqueous Interfaces" (SOMATAI) took place from 15.08. - 25.08. in Berlin. The ITN is financed by the EU's 7th Framework Programme.

On 16th and 18th of July, 2014 the RESOLV ECRs organized two Workshops regarding the management of conflicts with the trainer Petra Weigend. In total 16 PhD students and young group leaders took part in the two workshops and learned about mechanisms happening when a conflict arises and how to actively tackle it.

On 03.07.2014 Prof. Dr. Marcus Petermann (Dean of GSS) welcomed all new GSS members in the RESOLV Seminar Room at RUB. Dr. Rachel Glaves gave an overview of the Graduate School and its curriculum and afterwards the students got the opportunity to get to know each other better while enjoying pizza and beer.
